NightMAREbot

NightMAREbot is a bot designed specifically for the TinyMARE MUD engine.

Goals

  • Easy to use
  • Easy to extend
  • Secure

The parts of the bot

NightMAREbot consists of several major pieces:

  • BotShellAccount? - where the bot runs for each host MARE
  • TinyFugue? - the client the bot is built on
  • NightMARE - the bot's home world and BotLet? (code) repository
  • BotScripts? - scripts to interface TinyFugue? with the outside world
  • BotLets? - softcode? to link the BotScripts? to the host MARE

Getting a bot

If you are interested in getting a NightMAREbot for your mare, have an admin contact nightmarebot@qbfreak.net.

Starting the bot

Starting up the bot is as easy as logging into your MARE's account and issuing the loadbot command.

The loadbot script starts up TinyFugue? and connects to NightMARE with the name of the user the script was executed by. Once connected NightMARE interacts with the bot to do the following:

  • Connect to the proper host MARE
  • Ensure that the host MARE has the latest version of each botlet
  • Load the TinyFugue? scripts required by each botlet
